Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Long Term Care, Skilled Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7p-7:30a) Experience: 1-3 years previous RN experience preferred License: Valid State RN license Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Medical terminology preferred, strong teamwork and communication skills required, flexibility to cover 24 hours/day, 7 days per week, and ability to float to other units as needed. Description: The RN partners with residents and other care providers to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment. The RN provides direct and indirect care to residents. The unit specializes in working with Alzheimer's and dementia residents. Care is tailored to meet the needs of individuals with these conditions. Key aspects include the use of verbal and non-verbal communication techniques. Understanding of the difficult behaviors associated with Alzheimer's and dementia is essential. These behaviors can often be valid communications from residents. The role provides needed care to residents requiring long-term placement in a home-like environment. The unit also provides short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for patients recovering from various illnesses or injuries. Nursing services often include IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment and management. The RN must work well within a team of other care providers. Flexibility is required to float to other units as needed. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the listed requirements.
