Health Initiative Manager The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is seeking a Health Initiative Manager to lead advocacy and policy efforts focused on FDA regulation and scientific integrity. The manager will collaborate with the Executive Director to develop strategies, oversee projects, conduct research, and build relationships with stakeholders to advance CSPI’s mission to improve public health. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work with the Executive Director to develop CSPI's policy positions, priorities, and strategies for the Health Initiative. Manage ongoing projects, including a campaign tracking government use of advisory committees and campaigns ensuring the safety and efficacy of medical devices and drugs. Identify opportunities to advocate for scientific integrity, transparency, and agency accountability, especially as it relates to drug and medical device regulation. Mentor and manage a Policy Associate, providing professional development and performance evaluation. Write and review policy documents such as letters, fact sheets, reports, comments, petitions, and op-eds; conduct policy research and scientific literature reviews; collect data for research projects. Represent CSPI and build strategic relationships with the media, funders, coalition partners, policymakers, industry, and academia. Communicate CSPI's policy priorities and mission to the media to drive advocacy goals. Collaborate with the development team to raise additional funds, manage grant deliverables, and draft reports to funders. Qualifications At least 7 years of experience with public health policy and/or advocacy, particularly related to FDA regulation, including producing reports, peer‑reviewed publications, and regulatory documents. Advanced degree such as a JD (preferred) or Master of Public Health, Master of Public Policy, or PhD. Strong analytical skills to read, interpret legal, financial, and scientific documents and translate complex science into compelling content for diverse audiences. Demonstrated commitment to transparency, accuracy, and scientific rigor in prior work. Ability to supervise and mentor staff and evaluate performance. Excellent multitasking and project management skills in a fast‑paced environment. Experience working across teams in a positive, inclusive, collaborative, and strategic culture. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, diplomacy, and discretion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Alignment with CSPI's mission and core values. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $110,000 to $120,000, based on experience. Benefits include: 3 weeks of annual vacation, additional paid holiday leave between December24 and January1, 8 weeks of paid parental leave, comprehensive medical and dental insurance, a 3% employer match to the retirement plan after six months, and a ½ day Friday schedule (36 hours per week).
