What You Will Do

The Safety Supervisor, reporting to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety and in conjunction with the Café Valley leadership team, is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions.

• Consistent and dependable attendance; ability to work flexible hours and schedules as business needs demand
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. while inspecting and evaluating production, warehouse, and maintenance work areas
• Ability to wear and correctly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Ability to work in and around coolers, freezers, and areas with variable temperature, humidity, and noise conditions, and with or around food allergens of all types
• Coordinates ongoing safety promotion activities such as safety committees, safety walkthroughs, safety training, and incentive programs; supports tracking and reporting of plant safety KPIs
• Conducts regular compliance audits and safety inspections of the facility; initiates corrective actions, audits deficiency lists, and follows up on repairs
• Orders suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety
• Investigates accidents and incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence using root cause analysis (RCA) methodology; supports OSHA 300 log recordkeeping and compiles injury/illness reports for regulatory submission
• Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and work practices — including those of on-site contractors — for compliance with safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA)
• Supports the EHS Director with industrial hygiene tasks such as noise, atmosphere, and ventilation surveys, and collects samples of dust, gases, vapors, or other potentially toxic materials for analysis
• Conducts safety training and education programs, including new hire safety orientation, and demonstrates the use of safety equipment
• Investigates safety and food-safety/facility-related complaints and inspects facilities for compliance with applicable regulations
• Assists with the administration of workers' compensation claims; coordinates with insurance carriers, auditors, and treating physicians toward timely, successful resolution
• Collaborates with engineers and plant leadership to institute control or remedial measures across safety, equipment, and process-related issues
• Supports emergency response and evacuation procedures, including corresponding practice drills
• Maintains safety files, records, and documentation to support compliance and audit readiness
• Performs other duties as assigned

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Three (3) years of experience in a Safety-related role
• Effective communication skills (verbal, written, presentational, and interpersonal)
• Proven ability to organize, plan, and prioritize tasks within a high-volume, varied workload
• Ability to work under low supervision
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed
• Experience with the administration of work injury claims
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general HRIS data management skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Related bachelor’s degree
• OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification
• Three (3) years of experience in production/manufacturing/bakery food plant in a Safety-related role
• Experience as a key trainer for LOTO, OSHA, and other related topics
• Experience working with insurance auditors and Workers' Compensation carriers for continuous improvement and successful resolution of work injury claims
