Drapery Department: Drapery Cutter

Shift: 7am to 3:30pm

Pay: $15/hr

Physical Requirements:
This is a physical position that requires upper body strength. Frequent lifting is required with ability to lift up to 35lbs without assistance. This position requires frequent walking, stooping, reaching and ability to stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities:
The Cutter is responsible for cutting decorative fabric and lining per order to supply to Drapery Department. Other responsibilities include organizing lining on inventory racks and at times assisting members of the drapery team in various areas as needed.

Special Skills:
Special skills include, math skills, pattern matching, ability to read and understand standard measurements and manufacturing tickets with acute attentiveness to detail.

Tools
The Cutter will utilize a flat cutting table equipped with an automated cutting system to cut fabric for drapery panels. This person will remove decorative fabric from the staging rack and load it onto the cutting table. The cutter will then read the manufacturing ticket to determine the measurement and the number of cuts to be made for the order. Once this information is found they will pull the fabric across the table according to the measurements indicated on the manufacturing ticket. If the fabric has a pattern, they will determine the pattern placement prior to making the first cut so that each panel is cut on the same pattern. They will then push a button on the machine to make the cuts. The same instructions are used to cut the
lining as indicated on the manufacturing ticket Once all cuts are made for the order, they are placed on a cart together with the manufacturing ticket attached.

Training
5-6 weeks
Periodic cross training for flexibility to perform tasks in other departments
