Location: Bradenton, FL

Position Type: Full-Time, 11-Month Teaching Position
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
Base Salary: $54,774–$57,008 annually, based on experience
Additional Millage Supplement: $9,537 annually
Total Annual Salary: $64,311–$66,545

Position Overview

Ad-VANCE Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced dental professional who is passionate about teaching and preparing the next generation of dental assistants.

The Dental Assisting Instructor will provide classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction to secondary dual-enrolled and postsecondary students. This is a teaching position and does not include responsibility for overseeing the Dental Assisting program.

The ideal candidate will have current CDA and EFDA credentials, hands-on dental industry experience, and the ability to explain dental procedures and technical information clearly and patiently. Previous teaching experience is helpful but not required for an experienced dental professional who enjoys training and mentoring others.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet all the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in any field.

• Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification.

• Current Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential.

• Professional experience in dental assisting or a closely related dental setting.

• Current knowledge of dental assisting procedures, equipment, instruments, terminology, safety standards, and infection-control practices.

• Certified or eligible to become certified as a Career and Technical Education instructor in the appropriate subject area.

• Ability to meet all applicable state, school district, and accreditation requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising students or employees.

• Recent experience working in a dental office or clinical environment.

• Experience with four-handed dentistry and chairside dental assisting.

• Knowledge of dental radiography, expanded dental functions, sterilization, and infection control.

• Familiarity with lesson planning, student assessments, or Career and Technical Education programs.

• Comfortable using computers, email, instructional technology, and student-record systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction for the Dental Assisting program.

• Teach the clinical, technical, safety, professional, and employability skills students need to succeed in dental assisting.

• Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, demonstrations, assignments, and assessments.

• Demonstrate the proper use, sanitation, maintenance, and storage of dental instruments, equipment, and materials.

• Teach and reinforce infection-control procedures, workplace safety standards, professional ethics, confidentiality, and patient-care expectations.

• Prepare students for applicable dental industry certifications, examinations, and employment.

• Monitor student progress and provide coaching, feedback, and academic support.

• Maintain a safe, organized, professional, and supportive learning environment.

• Establish clear expectations for student conduct and consistently follow applicable policies and procedures.

• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, testing, certification, and student-performance records.

• Incorporate current dental industry practices, technology, and employer expectations into classroom instruction.

• Stay informed about changes, trends, and best practices within the dental profession.

• Collaborate with administrators, faculty, staff, employers, advisory committee members, and community partners.

• Assist with student recruitment, retention, career guidance, accreditation, program planning, and other instructional activities.

• Maintain accurate inventory records and help protect assigned equipment, supplies, and school property.

• Attend staff meetings, professional-development activities, and other required school events.

• Perform other duties related to the goals and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities Outside the Regular School Day

The instructor will occasionally be required to participate in activities outside the regular Monday–Friday schedule, including:

• SkillsUSA activities

• HOSA activities

• Graduation ceremonies

• Program advisory meetings

• Other career and technical student organization activities or school-related events
