Assembly Technician

General Summary:

The general scope of the assembly includes installing controls panels on packaged systems and subsystems, sizing and running electrical conductors and conduit on packaged systems and stand alone product, installing software and firmware files to appropriate product, programming operational parameters for software driven product, installing peripheral devices such as temperature and pressure devices.

Job Description:

• Assembly and Disassembly of pumps in shop.
• Completion of comprehensive inspections of pumps and components.
• Identification of the cause(s) of mechanical/electrical pump failures & recommend corrective action.
• Daily maintenance of department's equipment and tools.
• Responsible for paint prep, masking with tape areas to protect from the application of paint.
• Record and monitor each order's labor and material.
• Ensure and control safety and quality assurance at all times.

• Basic Electrical Fundamentals required
• Capable of reading and operating precision instruments
• Ability to use mechanical and electrical aptitude to problem-solving and troubleshoot issues
  
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Power Point.
  
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, in English to give and receive information.
  
  
• Proficiency in the Spanish language is an asset.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred with 5 or more years experience building, assembling and wiring pumps and/or packaged systems
  
• Experience with electrical schematics and exposure
  
  
• Experience with vertical and/or horizontal pump assembly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to read and apply mathematics from engineering drawings and schematics
• Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals and ability to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a non-climate-controlled factory environment; flexibility with shift changes (5x8 or 4x10 schedules) and frequent overtime
• Experience with vertical and/or horizontal pump assembly, or veterans with MOS experience maintaining precision mechanical systems
• Vocational training or certification in welding (MIG), electrical systems (to 480-3 phase), blueprint reading, or precision measuring instruments
• Forklift license and experience with lifting equipment including crane lift rigging

Responsibilities

• As a key part of the Standard/Medium Assembly team, you'll create impact by Building and testing the reliable pump systems that protect communities and power essential infrastructure around the world
• Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, and repair horizontal and standard vertical centrifugal pumps using engineering drawings and schematics
• Perform welding, acetylene cutting, drilling, tapping, honing, reaming, and other precision machining operations required for pump mounting and repair
• Set up and execute hydraulic pressure tests and performance run tests on pumps and pumping systems, accurately recording all results
• Make mechanical and electrical connections (up to 480-3 phase) and mount pumps and accessories to base plates
• Inspect components prior to assembly for suitability of use and problem-solve technical issues to complete jobs
• Participate in Kaizen events, contribute improvement proposals, and cross-train with team members

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $19.50 - $22.00 Per Hour
