Chiller Technician

New York, United States | Posted on 05/06/2026 We're seeking a Chiller Technician to join one of our client's mechanical service teams supporting large commercial and industrial facilities. Our client is a well-established contractor with a strong field workforce, deep bench of senior technicians, and a reputation for handling some of the most complex central plant work in the region. Their service division runs lean, pays well, and keeps their people busy year-round. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain centrifugal, screw, and absorption chillers across commercial and industrial sites Service and troubleshoot supporting plant equipment including motors, pumps, valves, controls, and cooling towers Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, eddy current testing coordination, and seasonal start-ups and shutdowns Respond to emergency service calls during rotating on-call shifts and resolve issues on first visit when possible Document service work, refrigerant usage, and equipment condition through the company's work order system Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience servicing equipment 10 tons and larger EPA Universal certification required Background in central plant operations or large-scale HVAC systems Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability across building systems Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation including nights and weekends Clear written and verbal communication for customer-facing service work Design Hire is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
