Role Description The Senior Tax Accountant is a full-time role based in Arlington, VA, with flexibility for part-time work from home. This position is responsible for leading complex tax preparation and review for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other entities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Day-to-day work includes researching tax issues, interpreting applicable tax law, preparing and reviewing workpapers, and identifying tax planning opportunities for clients. The Senior Tax Accountant will also prepare and analyze financial statements, assist with year-end closings, and collaborate with team members on accounting and advisory engagements. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, maintaining strong client relationships, and supporting forensic and valuation projects as needed. Qualifications Strong tax technical skills, including Tax Preparation and Tax Compliance across multiple entity types. Broad knowledge of Tax planning concepts and the ability to research and interpret tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and related supporting schedules. Solid Accounting foundation, including GAAP principles and experience with accounting software and tax preparation platforms. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA license or CPA eligibility strongly preferred. Several years of progressive public accounting experience in tax-focused roles, ideally at the senior level. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a client-service environment. Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients in accessible terms.
