Description

Oneida Health is currently seeking a full-time Medical Office Clerk for our Tri-Valley Canastota Primary Care practice. The MOC in the Practice Setting is responsible for making appointments for patients following medical practice procedures, responsible for coordinating, verifying, distributing, and managing all billable services to patients, and assure exceptional patient experiences both safely and efficiently. This position is scheduled Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm.

What You'll be Great At:

• Promptly and professionally answering telephone calls; route calls appropriately, offering voicemail, paging, or redirection of calls as needed.
• Greeting visitors and assisting them as appropriate; phones or pages employees to meet visitors and directs visitors to appropriate waiting areas.
• Maintaining medical records: ensuring all related reports, labs and information is filed/scanned and available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment; flags abnormal results to the attention of the MD
• Explaining financial requirements to the patients or responsible parties and collecting copayments as required.
• Scheduling appointments for patients either by phone when they call, or in person after an office visit.
• Using computerized systems to match physician/clinician availability with patient's preferences in terms of date and time.
• Providing daily schedules to physicians/clinicians or medical assistants prior to each day's visits; copies also made available to the receptionist/registration clerk and others as needed.
• Communicating with office leader or nurse manager about any patient concerns/issues related to scheduling as needed.
• Coordinating with clinical staff to obtain charge information for all patients; verifying and completing charge information in medical database.
• Processing and balancing cash drawers against total collected, completing daily bank deposits.
• Other nonclinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Essential Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One year medical office experience preferred. Proficient skills in computer programs. Ability to multitask effectively, dealing with phone calls, in-office patients, staff, and others pleasantly. Ability to communicate calmly and clearly with patients about appointments in all circumstances including when they are ill or have an emergency.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, sit or move for extended periods. Manual dexterity for computer tasks. Ability to lift, push or pull light to moderate loads.
