Job Description Job Summary Lead all facets of program administration for student services, serve as a subject matter expert, and provide counseling for students and student groups. Job-Specific Responsibilities The Director of Community Engagement serves as a key leadership role within Phillips Brooks House reporting to the Associate Dean of Civic Engagement and Service. They oversee programs related to summer fellowship experiences, winter break volunteer opportunities, and post-graduate public service opportunities for current Harvard undergraduates and recent graduates in the public interest sector. These programs focus extensively on student development, building community partnerships, and alumni/ae engagement. Harvard College provides support to a wide range of community service organizations, alumni/ae Clubs, Shared Interest Groups (SIGs), and publicservice initiatives Duties and Responsibilities Core Program Oversight Oversees winter break and summer programs. Currently these programs include the Mindich Service Fellowship Program, Harvard Clubs Summer Community ServiceFellowship Program, the Arthur Liman Public Interest Law Fellowship Program,Fellows at the Forefront, Stad Fellows Program, Fong Family Winternship Program,internship placements with Harvard International Offices, and the SPARK programfor pre-matriculated students. Oversees events and conferences related to community engagement work to meet the larger mission of the Center. Designs complex reports to support student services goals; analyze student services metrics to support strategic planning Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations Community Partnership Oversight Develops and sustains over 300 community partnerships related to summer, winter break, and post-graduate programs. Collaborates with several departments on campus to support campus conferences and regionally based partnerships and programs, such as nonprofit boardrecruitment fairs and graduate school networking nights. Stewards relationships with current and future partnership sites. Visits sites yearly for quality control and partner satisfaction. Serves as a strategist for community partnership building across the department and Harvard College. Alumni and Key Stakeholder Engagement Engages alumni in conjunction with the Harvard Alumni Association and Harvard’s Alumni Affairs and Development team. Stewards communications support with donors, and student advising as needed. Supports the Associate Dean of Civic Engagement and Service in fostering donor relationships and faculty relationships Serves as a liaison to other civic engagement units across Harvard University Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting May be required to work nights and weekends Physical Requirements Lifting (approximately 20 to 30 pounds), bending, and other physical exertion Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience Additional Qualifications and Skills 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience related to community engagementwork. Master’s Degree in a field related to community engagement and/or public service. Familiarity with developing programs working with students, alumni, faculty, and community partners will be given preference. Strong organizational and time management skills. We are also seeking candidates who can manage relationships with strong attention to detail and discretion Outstanding interpersonaland problem-solving skills who can work with a diversearray of constituencies Additional Information Appointment End Date: Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week Compensation Range/Rate (including Shift Differential if applicable): Visa Sponsorship Information: Harvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position Pre-Employment Screening: Identity, Education, Criminal Other Information: The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs and objectives and consistent with College Policy, which requires 5 days on-site in Cambridge, MA during term time (first day of classes through commencement), with the exception of winter break in December, spring break in March, and the summer months when students are away from campus, where staff is expected be on campus two days a week. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts.
