Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Surgery Center

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Manager of our brand‑new Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This leadership role is accountable to the Senior Director of Perioperative Services at NYU Langone‑Brooklyn. A successful candidate will oversee nursing teams in the OR and pre/post at the ASC, including opening the ASC with staffing and workflow implementation. Strong people‑leadership skills are essential. In this role, the successful candidate provides clinical leadership and management of designated care area(s) on a twenty‑four‑hour basis, consistent with the philosophy, goals, and mission of NYU Langone Health. The candidate assumes responsibility and accountability for all facets of nursing practice and performance within that area, meeting all pertinent organizational goals and targets. The candidate develops, fosters, and sustains an environment of excellence in patient and family service, staff growth and development, quality nursing care, and staff engagement and satisfaction. Coordinates care delivery using labor productivity data to plan and evaluate staffing patterns, discharge and/or volume targets, and assists clinical leaders in validating staffing patterns. Holds self and others accountable for delivery of exemplary care in a cost‑efficient manner. Coordinates and facilitates activities to promote service and interdisciplinary teamwork; role models service standards in actions and communications with patients, families, staff, and other disciplines. Designs, implements, and evaluates programs and activities to ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory standards, service standards, and policies at the organizational, local, state, and federal level. Participates in the development, approval, and implementation of nursing and organizational policy, incorporating shared governance principles. Collects, analyzes, and utilizes data to drive practice changes that integrate quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics to achieve excellence in outcomes. Participates in and fosters staff involvement in nursing research and evidence‑based practice efforts. Ensures staff compliance with maintaining licenses, certifications, and mandated learnings and content. Develops positive and productive relationships across disciplines to establish strategic partnerships to achieve shared goals. Fosters high‑reliability concepts within the unit/organizational structure. Communicates with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders. Fosters a culture of inquiry, innovation, and transformation focused on the future. Leads and supports the development of new insights to complex situations, innovative designs, and programs/processes. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities This role requires flexibility to work across a variety of surgical specialties and peri‑operative care areas, including the ambulatory surgery center and the main operating rooms. Minimum Qualifications Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State. Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association. Master’s degree in nursing required. At least three years of pertinent clinical practice. Certification in nursing leadership required upon eligibility. Ability to apply the nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion addressing patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators. Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and leadership skills. Required Licenses Registered Nurse License (NYS), Basic Life Support Certificate. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of leadership or supervisory experience. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The range does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other compensation.
