Medical Director And Attending Physician
The attending physician provides comprehensive patient-centered primary care to members of the LGBTQAI+ community and people living with or vulnerable to HIV. This role focuses on gender affirming care including hormone therapy, comprehensive sexual wellness services, and the prevention, diagnosis, and management of HIV and related conditions in an outpatient setting. The physician works collaboratively with nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality care, promote adherence to treatment, and improve long-term health outcomes. The ideal candidate is experienced in primary care, HIV care, gender affirming care, culturally competent, and committed to serving diverse and often underserved populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary and specialized care to LGBTQAI+ patients or those patients living with HIV in an outpatient clinic setting
- Perform comprehensive health assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and risk evaluations
- Diagnose and manage HIV infection and related comorbidities, including opportunistic infections
- Prescribe and manage gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT)
- Prescribe and manage antiretroviral therapy (ART) and monitor treatment adherence and effectiveness
- Prescribe and manage pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for individuals exposed to or vulnerable to contracting HIV
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and laboratory results
- Provide preventive care, including vaccinations, STI screening, and comprehensive sexual health counseling
- Educate patients on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including case managers, pharmacists, and behavioral health providers
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Stay current with evolving treatment guidelines and best practices
Requirements:
- MD/DO or equivalent degree
- Active PA medical license, or ability to obtain by time of appointment
- Completed ACGME residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Completed Fellowship in LGBTQIA+ and/or HIV care strongly preferred
