About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Wound Care Profession: RN Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Two years of Med/Surg experience; Wound and Colostomy experience required. License: Client RN License. Certifications: Current certification in one of the following is required: - Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) - Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) - Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) - Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) - Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) Must-Have: - Excellent patient assessment skills - Strong care planning capabilities - Proficiency in wound care - Knowledge of colostomy care - Ability to provide patient education Description: Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop care plans based on diagnoses and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care. Assist in selecting supplies, technology, and equipment. Assess and document patient responses to various treatments. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff. Work collaboratively with the healthcare team and make referrals as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families in preventing complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence issues. Develop and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation and continuing education. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures. Escalate and communicate any challenges identified, including ethical issues and conflict resolution. Collaborate with nursing leadership to recommend best practices based on thorough assessments. Participate in quality improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence studies. Provide culturally competent education to patients, families, and staff, respecting diverse belief systems. Maintain confidentiality of data and information according to patient rights policies. Engage in professional development activities to maintain competency. Identify community resources helpful to clients and assist in utilizing these resources. Manage assets related to rented equipment, including specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
