Director, Global Enterprise HR Risk Advisor

Director, Global Enterprise HR Risk Advisor As a Director in Capital One’s Human Resource Risk Office, you will apply your leadership and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management projects. You will lead teams of Risk Advisors and act as a thought leader working across the enterprise to develop and implement cutting‑edge Risk solutions to ensure Capital One’s continued stability and success. Directors in the Risk Management organization partner with Executives and lines of business to drive organizational change in a collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are welcomed and rewarded. Responsibilities HR Risk Assessment: support new or changing initiatives through appropriate forums and enterprise assessments such as Process Criticality, Process Level Assessments and Risk and Control Self‑Assessment. HR Regulatory applicability: partner with HR, Legal and Compliance to review and update regulatory applicability. HR Controls: accountable for the Uncovered RMAP process, identify and document appropriate controls in the Risk Management system of record, FUSE. HR Issues & Events: provide support for HR issues and events; ensure adherence to Enterprise Risk Management standards. HR Policies, Standards & Procedures: support HR policies through documentation in accordance with Corporate Policy Office expectations and maintain them in the compliance and reporting platform (Wdesk). Audits & Exams: support related audits and exams. Regulatory Changes: partner with HR, Legal and Compliance to assess the impact of regulatory changes to employment and privacy laws; document implementation plans to demonstrate compliance. Advise on HR Functional Area documentation: partner with HR to ensure process documentation meets enterprise requirements and is well managed. Perform critical assessments on risk categories to mitigate risk to the company. Perform extensive gap assessments and create recommendations to ensure smart business decisions. Use analytical skills to conduct Risk Process Improvement, Process Design & Process Excellence. HR Risk Management and Reporting: support the development of risk management and reporting that drives meaningful conversations, accountability and awareness in HR. Provide guidance and advice to business partners on implementing risk policies and programs. Leadership & Vision Inspire, motivate, and provide clear direction to the teams to successfully execute strategic priorities. Lead teams effectively through change and champion innovation within the HR Risk Office. Build a high‑performing team through strong leadership grounded in the Capital One Competencies with demonstrated results. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience. At least 8 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit or Compliance. At least 4 years of experience managing and leading teams, including both direct and indirect reports. At least 5 years of experience in Project or Process Management. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or Project Management. 10+ years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Project and/or Process Management. 6+ years of people‑management experience, including both direct and indirect reports. Business Process Management certification (Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt), Agile Coach certification, or a certification in Risk Management (e.g., CRISC, PRMIA, FRM), Audit (e.g., CIA, CISA) or Compliance (CRCM). Salary and Benefits Minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role, by location, are listed below. This salary information is only for candidates hired to perform work within the specified locations. McLean, VA: $206,000 – $235,100 Richmond, VA: $187,300 – $213,700 This role is eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives (LTI). Incentives may be discretionary or non‑discretionary depending on the plan.
