Principal Investigator (Virtual) [Remote]

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Investigator (Virtual) based in United States.

This part-time, fully remote role provides medical leadership and clinical oversight across clinical research studies.
You will help ensure trials are conducted safely, ethically, and in accordance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice standards.
The position combines medical review, participant safety oversight, protocol interpretation, and collaboration with research teams.
You will support investigators and study staff while helping resolve questions around eligibility, endpoints, safety, and protocol-specific procedures.
The role offers an opportunity to contribute to clinical research while working remotely with a multidisciplinary team.
You will also engage with sponsors, monitors, and regulatory stakeholders to support high-quality trial execution.

Accountabilities

• Provide overall medical oversight and review of clinical trials in accordance with study protocols, company procedures, and Good Clinical Practice requirements.
• Review sponsor-provided safety reports and assess participant safety throughout the course of studies.
• Review and maintain accurate case report forms and other required clinical documentation.
• Protect the safety, wellbeing, and rights of all clinical trial participants under the investigator’s oversight.
• Assess participant responses to therapy and evaluate, document, and address adverse experiences.
• Perform physical assessments, examinations, and study-specific clinical procedures when required by protocols.
• Train Sub-Investigators and study staff on protocols, procedures, and study-specific requirements.
• Provide medical guidance on protocol questions, inclusion and exclusion criteria, patient eligibility, safety concerns, and protocol clarifications.
• Review inclusion/exclusion requirements, endpoint criteria, and investigational product use with the research team.
• Complete all required internal and protocol-specific training and maintain compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
• Ensure adherence to ICH Good Clinical Practice and all relevant regulatory requirements.
• Participate in monitoring visits and sponsor meetings and support sponsor audits and inspections by appropriate regulatory authorities.
• Collaborate effectively with research and clinical teams to identify and resolve issues while maintaining high standards of quality and confidentiality.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree with an active, unrestricted medical license valid in the state where the research is conducted.
• Previous experience serving as a Principal Investigator is required; approximately 2 years of Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator experience is preferred.
• Training and certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
• Strong understanding of clinical research processes, study protocols, participant safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with investigators, research staff, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
• Strong critical-thinking and dynamic problem-solving abilities, particularly when addressing complex clinical or protocol-related situations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate, confidential clinical information.
• Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and work effectively in a fast-paced research environment.
• Strong judgment and ability to make appropriate decisions regarding participant safety, eligibility, and protocol compliance.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while remaining engaged and collaborative with distributed teams.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; work visa sponsorship is not currently available for this position.
