About the Team The Global Policy Development & Research Team is a core part of our Public Policy & Communications Organization, leading economic and legislative analysis that drives our policy strategy and storytelling around the world. It uncovers and explains the impact of proposed legislative and regulatory changes, shapes our global policy positions, and communicates DoorDash’s role in driving impact in local economies. About the Role DoorDash is looking for an experienced Global Head of Policy Research, who will serve as our Head Economist and lead our research function. You will analyze how we influence local economies and the impact we drive for Dashers, merchants, and consumers, and shape how we share our insights externally. You’ll lead a team that explores how the DoorDash platform drives economic activity globally and shapes the broader policy conversation around the future of work and local commerce. What You’ll Do Lead our Global Policy Research function – setting the vision, defining the direction of research, and driving execution of a high‑impact agenda. Analyze our economic impact and how policy proposals affect our platform and the Dashers, merchants, and consumers who use it every day. Produce economic impact reports and other public‑facing analyses that clearly and credibly demonstrate our impact to policymakers, the media, and other audiences. Partner with Public Policy and Communications teammates to translate complex research into compelling narratives for external audiences, including meetings with policymakers and media interviews. Engage with academics, think tanks, and other thought leaders to create an academic foundation for proposed policies. Coordinate closely with the Public Policy & Communications Team and with Analytics, Finance, Communications, and Strategy & Ops teams. Manage a team with a global remit. Qualifications PhD in Economics or a similar domain. 10+ years of experience in economic research, data analytics, economic or management consulting, or a related quantitative role, with a strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and communicating complex findings to non‑technical audiences. Expertise in SQL and statistical analysis (hypothesis testing, experimentation, regressions), familiarity with one or more analytics & visualization tools, and demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to scale and enhance research impact. Experience managing direct reports, juggling both technical and managerial tasks, including 1+1’s, technical mentorship, and recruitment participation. Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment and balancing rigor with speed. Bonus: experience working in‑house at a technology company, in government, and/or internationally. Compensation Base salary range: $214,200‑$315,000 USD (localised by work location). Base salary is determined by job‑related factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. In addition to base salary, equity grants may be available. For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (≈6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; ≈3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (≈5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; ≈2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week). The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado, is $214,200–$315,000 USD.
