FIRE PARAMEDIC SUPPORT FIREFIGHTER - *MUST BE CERTIFIED*

Paramedic

The purpose of this classification is to administer appropriate emergency medical treatment to victims of accidents and other life-threatening situations, assist with firefighting tasks, maintain emergency medical equipment and vehicles, and assist with emergency medical training and certification programs.

Examples of duties include leading and coordinating daily work activities, performing basic life rescue duties, providing advanced emergency medical care, communicating with medical personnel, maintaining readiness for emergency response, responding to emergency calls, maintaining knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, processing documentation, operating computers and equipment, communicating with various individuals, and performing other related duties as required.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, vocational or technical EMT/Paramedic training, one year of experience in a related field, and any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Knowledge, skill, abilities, and supplemental information include possessing and maintaining a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s), completing Firefighter I certification within twelve months of hire, possessing and maintaining certification as a Paramedic in the state of Georgia, passing annual written, oral, and physical examinations, demonstrating proficiency in performance of the essential functions, and learning, comprehending, and applying all County or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
