General Maintenance Technician WA The General Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and facilities located at several land ports of entry in the Washington area. This role requires coverage to ensure continuous and efficient operations. The ideal candidate must be able to pass a government background investigation and drug screening. Role and Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural components. Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to ensure timely and effective resolutions. Conduct inspections and monthly preventive maintenance to identify potential problems and mitigate risks. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols. Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to complete projects efficiently. Provide emergency response and repairs as needed to minimize downtime and maintain operational integrity. Operate and maintain tools and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks. Assist in the implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures. Respond to a Priority 1 work order immediately, including weekends and holidays; communicate status updates to Tiguà and enter them into Maximo. Respond to a Priority 2 work order by phone within 30 minutes and be on site within one hour plus travel. Respond to a Priority 3 work order within 30 days. Qualifications Heavy lifting of up to 50–80 lbs. Availability for after‑hours, weekend, and on‑call support as needed. HSPD‑12 clearance, preliminary background check, and drug screen. Travel required; possible overnight stays. OSHA‑10 certification or ability to complete within the first 30 days (preferred). Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Education High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred. 2–3 years’ experience in basic electrical, mechanical, and computer technology.
