Job Title Nurse Practitioner – Community Hospitals (Greenwood Primary Care, UMMC Greenwood) Job Summary Manage and provide patient medical care, promoting health and wellness by assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with physicians and in accordance with UMMC, state, and federal guidelines. Education & Experience Master’s degree or higher in Nursing Certifications, Licenses or Registration Mississippi APRN license National certification applicable to the area of practice Applicants currently pursuing degree and licensure who will meet all minimum requirements within 6 months are eligible Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of nursing care procedures and protocols Verbal and written communication skills Interpersonal skills Knowledge and understanding of computer systems, tools, and programs Responsibilities Complete health assessments (patient histories and physical exams) Order, collect, and interpret relevant laboratory and other diagnostic tests Formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans based on assessments Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and care provided Serve as educator and mentor to graduate nursing students and new hire advanced practice providers Act as expert/resource to nursing staff in area of specialty Serve on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area Demonstrate core standards of exceptional customer service Direct the management and overall operations of designated patient care unit, including rounds and collaboration with physicians and other health care team members Identify, establish, direct, evaluate, and report clinic/unit based quality improvement activities to enhance delivery of care at UMMC Physical and Environmental Demands Requires exposure to high noise level, heat and cold, potentially dangerous equipment, biohazardous conditions, frequent extended hours, occasional travel, lifting >100 pounds, frequent bending, twisting, walking, standing, and routine tasks such as driving, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, crouching/stooping, kneeling, etc. Job Details Time Type: Full time FLSA Designation/Job Exempt: Yes Pay Class: Salary FTE %: 100 Work Shift: Day Job Posting Date: 06/8/2026 Benefits Eligibility: Grant Funded: No EEO Statement UMMC is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment on basis of race, color, national origin (including limited English proficiency and primary language), disability, age, sex (as defined in applicable laws), religion, genetic information, veteran’s status, and any other status protected by applicable law.
