POSITION SUMMARY An important member of the healthcare team who helps prepare patients for surgical procedures by assisting with pre-operative care, transporting patients, and ensuring they are comfortable and properly prepared for surgery. The surgical CNA supports nurses and surgical staff by gathering supplies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and following infection control and safety procedures. After surgery, the surgical CNA assists with post-operative patient care by monitoring comfort, helping with mobility and daily activities, and reporting any changes in the patient's condition to the nursing staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions Statement(s) • Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient care • Transport patients to and from the operating room • Take and record vital signs • Help patients with bathing, dressing, mobility, and daily living activities • Ensure patient comfort and safety before and after procedures • Prepare patient rooms and surgical areas for care • Stock, organize, and maintain surgical and medical supplies • Follow infection control, sterilization, and safety procedures • Maintain cleanliness of patient care and surgical areas • Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff • Document patient care and activities accurately • Support nurses and surgical staff during patient care procedures • Perform clerical duties including but not limited to data entry, typing, construction of charts.
• Handle surgical specimens and assist the RN in proper labeling.
• Participants in performance improvement initiatives.
• Completes sterile processing and decontamination of used equipment/supplies required to be sterilized for cases under the supervision of the nursing or surgical tech staff.
• Reports accidents and incidents in the incident reporting system. • Participates in Emergency Preparedness plans including role in Decon. • Promotes positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, supervisors, other CHCS associates, and government regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude. • Ensures daily checks, expiration dates, and equipment are completed.
• Supports and abides by the mission, values, standards, and policies of CHCS in all activities. • On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements. • All other duties as required. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Competency Statement(s)

Preferred enrollment in a surgical tech program or sterile processing program.
Experience: 1 year experience minimum as a certified nurses aide (hospital experience preferred)
