In this capacity, you'll serve as the principal mechanical engineering leader, guiding design and engineering tasks that support infrastructure construction, from initial concept through to full production.Key job responsibilities:Build and lead the mechanical team to execute all aspects of the mechanical design processOversee the complete mechanical design process, guiding concept evaluations and final decisions that result in fully developed construction drawings ready for permitting and constructionThis responsibility spans both wet systems for cooling water and dry systems for air distributionAddress RFIs and resolve design changes during constructionCollaborate with external Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firms throughout bid and project execution phases to verify that all designs and specifications align with our Engineering StandardsLead and support both internal teams and third-party engineers to maintain project quality and complianceProactively share project requirements, updates, and status with both internal and external teams to keep everyone alignedGuide and develop junior engineers through hands-on mentorship and professional growth opportunitiesDeliver comprehensive updates on design concepts and project progress during structured milestone reviews at the 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC stages, engaging stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure strategic alignment and transparencyDeliver quantity take-offs and cost estimates for projects within tight deadlines while applying core engineering principles and a comprehensive mechanical engineering toolkit to solve complex technical challengesThis approach drives the creation of innovative, detailed designs for diverse mechanical and process systemsCreate comprehensive design packages including detailed basis of design documents, sequence of operations, and contract-ready construction drawings to guide accurate project execution and stakeholder alignmentBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical EngineeringActive Professional Engineer (PE) licensePreferred Qualifications:+12 years of professional expertise in designing and constructing mechanical systems for large-scale manufacturing and industrial applicationsProfessional design experience across a broad range of project types, including industrial cooling tower systems, chiller plants, boiler plants, office environments, advanced manufacturing facilities, and industrial applicationsDeep knowledge of mechanical systems including, but not limited to: Dehumidification Units, Air Scrubbers, Dust Collectors, Heat Exchangers (shell/tube, plate/frame, brazed fin), Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Compressors, process gas/fluid systems, Air Handling Units, Terminal Units, Fans / Blowers, Pumps, Control Valves and Instrumentation, Hazardous Exhaust Systems, Dehumidification Units, Heat Recovery SystemsExpertly apply engineering design principles with deep knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including ICC codes (Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Energy Conservation, Fuel Gas, Fire), ASHRAE guidelines, SMACNA specifications, NFPA standards, and relevant ASME and ANSI codesProficient in the use of Revit, Revisto, and NavisworksAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
