Terms of Employment: 12-month Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Salary Scale: AFSCME UA, Grade 13-14

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Minimum three (3) years' experience required in construction or maintenance trade. A working knowledge of one or more of the building trades is required. Ability to use simple shop mathematics, read drawings and specifications, and use trade tools. Ability to expend considerable physical effort at frequent intervals. Ability to exercise good judgment and safety in performance of work. Capability of performing required work under disagreeable working conditions such as rain, snow, extremes in temperature, mud, dust, etc. A Maryland Class C Driver's license required. A willingness to take such additional training as required to successfully perform assigned duties. Willingness to work overtime as required in cases of emergency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Ability to work from step and extension ladders, scaffolds, man lifts, scissor lifts, aerial boom lifts, and bucket trucks. Performs maintenance duties such as grounds maintenance and mowing, painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC filter changing. Works at elevated heights. Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, and laptop to access and enter information required for the maintenance work order system and timekeeping. Ability to load and tow equipment trailers. Ability to drive commercial-type service vehicles, trucks, and Vans. Communicates verbally and in writing with CCBOE staff. Performs other duties as assigned by the Foreman.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and operate machinery. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, such as a toolbox. Occasionally, the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs., such as furniture or equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus. The employee will regularly work indoors and outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays, cleaners, fertilizers, seed, and non-household dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.
