UI/UX Designer
Location: New York, NY
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote
Duration: 12 Months
The UI/UX Designer will join a team of approximately 20 engineers and product managers focused on improving the rider experience across bus and subway services. The consultant will lead user-centered design initiatives, develop consistent design systems, establish UX best practices, and collaborate closely with product, engineering, research, creative, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities UX Strategy- Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across digital platforms.
- Support design consistency across digital experiences and signage for NYCT, LIRR, and MNR .
- Partner with User Experience Research (UXR) teams to understand rider needs, behaviors, and pain points.
- Establish and maintain a continuous user feedback loop to identify opportunities for UX improvement.
- Lead UX initiatives for complex digital products, with a strong focus on mobile applications.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, UX Researchers, Creative teams, and other stakeholders .
- Translate user needs and business objectives into effective design solutions.
- Partner with the Creative team to ensure alignment with established brand standards.
- Present design concepts, recommendations, and research findings to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Champion user-centered design practices across cross-functional teams.
- Establish, document, and continuously improve UX processes and best practices .
- Implement user testing and other UX quality-control measures.
- Ensure design solutions are consistent, usable, accessible, and aligned with established design standards.
- Work effectively within Agile development environments .
- Maintain strong attention to detail while managing complex design challenges.
- 8+ years of experience in UX/UI design , with significant experience focused on mobile applications.
- Proven experience leading UX initiatives for complex digital products .
- Experience working in Agile development environments .
- Strong experience developing and maintaining design systems .
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to advocate for user-centered design.
- Proficiency with industry-standard UX/UI design tools .
- Excellent visual design capabilities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with complex requirements and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience in the transportation industry or related fields.
- Experience with accessibility guidelines and standards .
- Experience designing digital experiences for large-scale public-facing services.
- Experience collaborating with UX research, product, engineering, and creative teams.
