Overview
Registered Nurse – Med Surg | Nights | Hilo, Hawaii | Start 09/21/2026 | 13-week travel assignment | $1,920–$1,975 per week | Guaranteed hours: none | Inpatient medical unit with 77 beds. This assignment includes a 13-week contract on the night shift, with scheduled 36 hours per week after a first full week of orientation.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients on a 77-bed medical unit.
- Perform assessments, develop and implement care plans, and monitor patient conditions; administer medications per physician orders; manage routine procedures and post-acute care needs.
- Utilize the Meditech EMR for documentation; operate Pyxis for medication dispensing; support wound VAC care and chest tube management as needed.
- Monitor for evolving clinical changes, respond to deteriorations, and escalate as per protocol; collaborate with physicians, ancillary staff, and case management to optimize outcomes and discharge planning.
- May float to the Laulima Unit or Cardiovascular Unit as needed to support department coverage.
- Maintain patient safety, infection control practices, and professional standards; provide patient and family education throughout care.

Requirements
- Hawaii RN license active by start of assignment; bridge or pending licenses not acceptable at start
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- 2–10 years of Med Surg RN experience
- Ability to work Night shifts; flexible with shift lengths and days; no guaranteed hours or shift preference
- Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved exception required prior to contract start (flu vaccination may be administered during employee health clearance)
- Must arrive the Thursday before start date to attend the employee health appointment on Friday
- May be required to float to Laulima Unit and Cardiovascular Unit as needed
