Expected salary range of $219,600 to $244,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

Purpose of Position

The Assistant General Counsel Labor & Employment will support business units across the company in all areas of labor and employment law, including discrimination, wage and hour, dispute resolution, agency charges, and litigation, directly or with outside counsel and proactively manage and mitigate labor and employment law compliance and litigation risks across the company.

Attorneys in this position work independently and have major matter, team or client responsibilities. Work generally involves handling matters of very substantial importance.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities

• Provides counsel and guidance to business unit clients and officers and executives of the company on compliance with the laws and regarding employee disputes, litigation, negotiations, investigations, and related matters.
• Represents the company or manages outside counsel representing the company in judicial proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and before governmental agencies
• Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support
• Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside
• Projects / duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• 10-years professional experience in a specialized area of law
• Excellent legal research, analytical abilities, and knowledge of federal and or state law
• Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of legal principles, practices, and procedures, with the ability to apply them to complex assignments
• An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience advising on OSHA / safety regulatory matters and/or labor law
• Experience working in or advising high-risk or regulated industries (e.g., energy, utilities, manufacturing, construction
• Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and the ability to independently and efficiently manage a portfolio of advice, investigation, and litigation matters, including under challenging deadlines.
• Proven oral, written communication and advocacy skills
