Position Title: Assembly Operator

Department: Assembly

Reports To: Assembly Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt - Hourly

Schedule: Monday- Friday 7am-3pm

Position Summary:

The Assembly Operator is responsible for setting up assembly lines, producing high-quality parts, meeting established efficiency, machine utilization, and scrap goals, measuring parts, and understanding equipment start-up, operation, adjustment, and shut-down procedures. The position follows plant and safety requirements, maintains a clean and organized work area, and contributes positively to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strictly observe and adhere to all plant and safety rules.
• Work effectively with colleagues.
• Use basic computer skills as required for labor collection.
• Move materials and fixtures to and from assembly areas.
• Set up and tear down assembly lines.
• Use assembly fixtures, bench-type hand tools, power tools, soldering, welding, engraving, inspection, and testing equipment as required.
• Measure parts visually and/or with gages and use gages effectively.
• Understand and use production reports and process documents.
• Understand tooling and make appropriate tooling and machine adjustments.
• Maintain acceptable production levels and established efficiency, utilization, and scrap goals.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times.
• Work overtime as required.
• Review and understand department goals.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required and/or equivalent experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly, listen effectively, and offer and receive new ideas and constructive criticism in a positive manner.
• Ability to complete required forms and reports.
• Ability to use and read gages and perform basic calculations involving sums, differences, quotients, products, decimals, time, and weight.
• Mechanical reasoning ability to make tooling and machine adjustments and solve problems while minimizing cost, time, material, and labor.
• No certificates, licenses, or registrations are required.

Physical Demands:

While performing this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is also required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
