Quality Control TechnicianOkanagan Specialty Fruits, LLC. (OSF) is seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician for its Moses Lake apple processing facility. This position is responsible for monitoring, documenting, and ensuring that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), finished goods specifications, process sheets and/or standard operating procedures (SOP) are all followed during process to achieve a good quality on the products.Duties & Responsibilities:Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs), sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), GMPs, normal operating procedures, and food safety (HACCP)Pre-operative and post-operative inspections of Equipment and FacilityMonitoring and record keeping of Quality Control Points – temperature, chemical concentrationsInteract with the QA Sanitation personnel to perform in their job function and acts as a guide that aids them as needed.ATP LuminometersOperational Inspections- Facility HousekeepingResponsible for cleanliness of equipment, tools, and utensilsRespond to Foreign Material IncidentsProduct Hold/Segregation/ReleaseProduct sampling, microbiological testing, and environmental microbiological testingCalibration of thermometers, scales, balances, weigh checkers, and luminometersAssist with all facility audits and/or inspections including GMP, Food Safety, Facility, Customer and GFSIInspection of all incoming raw materials including apples and packagingThe safe handling of all raw materialsMaintenance of required temperatures for products and roomsControlling the physical and organoleptic aspects of the product such as sizing, uniformity, texture, defects, feel, flavor, and odorDocumentation control of all quality documentsMonitor and verify metal detectors and pertaining elementsAssist in non-conformance investigations.Focus on the end product, its functionality, interface, and performance according to the specifications.Execute other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance & Food Safety ManagerDesired Key Competencies:The ability to work collaboratively and independently on various types of tasksDemonstration of the highest ethical standards and trustworthinessThe ability to operate effectively in a client-driven, fast paced team environmentStrong teaching, coaching, mentoring, and team-building skills, willingness to train othersThe ability to collect, support, evaluate data, summarize, and draft reportsWillingness to provide input in to developing policies and SOP's and write into approved documentsConfidence in presenting information and respond to questions from customers, managers in a clear and concise mannerStrong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a goal-oriented environmentThe ability to use scanners and quality equipment/instrumentsExperience in a laboratory a plusThe ability to identify problems and suggest improvementsThe ability to recognize and comply with hygiene factors according to set proceduresThe ability to complete all required quality and food safety training within a set timeframeThe ability to remain positive and adapt to changeEducation and Experience:High School diploma or equivalent2+ years' experience in the Quality Assurance and Control regulated industry or bachelor's degree in an applicable science related field.A background in manufacturing and food processing environments is preferredProven analytical strengths and experienceExcellent communication skills must read and write English, math and computer skills, detail orientated and positive attitudeFood production knowledge FSMA and GFSI scheme knowledge a plusPhysical and Environmental Demands:Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs safelyStanding for long periods of time, frequent twisting and bending, use of both hands, manual & finger dexterity for rolling/manipulatingCold, wet, and damp climates of 33°F-38°FExposure to loud noisesThe requirement of the use of safety equipment when operating machinery that may include but will not be limited to protective clothing, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety shoes.GMP & Food Safety Requirements:This position requires compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety policies.Employees must follow all sanitation, hygiene, and PPE requirements.Visible body piercings, jewelry, and any other prohibited personal items are not allowed on the production floor to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.
