Keeley Electrical Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Licensed Commercial & Industrial Electrician to join our team.

We are looking for more than someone who can simply install electrical work from a set of drawings. We are looking for a well-rounded electrician who understands the trade from the ground up—someone who can walk into a new installation, an operating facility, or a 50-year-old electrical system and confidently determine what needs to be done.

Our work is diverse. One project may involve a new commercial or industrial installation, while the next requires troubleshooting an existing system, upgrading a service, installing distribution equipment, connecting machinery, or figuring out an installation with little or no documentation.

This position is for an electrician with strong troubleshooting abilities, substantial field experience, and the ability to perform high-quality work on projects ranging from service calls and equipment repairs to large commercial and industrial construction projects.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have broad commercial and industrial electrical experience and be comfortable with both modern electrical systems and older equipment, controls, wiring methods, and installations.

You should be capable of working independently and making sound field decisions while also working effectively as part of a larger project team.

Experience should include many of the following areas:

• Commercial and industrial electrical construction.
• Service, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Existing facility renovations and electrical upgrades.
• Electrical services, switchgear, transformers, panels, and distribution systems.
• Motor circuits, starters, contactors, overloads, and motor controls.
• Control wiring and troubleshooting.
• VFD installation and troubleshooting.
• Lighting and lighting-control systems.
• Emergency and standby power systems.
• Generators and transfer equipment.
• Underground electrical systems, site work, and duct banks.
• Conduit installation, including EMT, RMC/IMC, and PVC.
• Cable tray and industrial wiring methods.
• Equipment and machinery connections.
• Grounding and bonding.
• Electrical testing and diagnostics.
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, specifications, and control diagrams.
• Working from existing conditions when drawings or documentation are limited or unavailable.
• Understanding and troubleshooting older wiring methods, equipment, and control systems.
• Performing new installations in accordance with current codes, standards, and accepted industry practices.
  

Experience with solar PV, energy storage, instrumentation, process controls, hazardous/classified locations, generators, or other specialized commercial and industrial systems is considered a plus.

We don't expect every candidate to have experience in every area. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in the trade, broad capabilities, and the ability and willingness to learn.

Troubleshooting Ability Is Important

A major part of what we are looking for is an electrician who understands why an electrical system works—not just how to install it.

The right person should be comfortable using meters, test equipment, schematics, field observations, and practical electrical knowledge to diagnose problems rather than simply replacing parts until something works.

We value electricians who can troubleshoot modern electronic equipment as well as traditional systems, including relays, contactors, motor starters, control transformers, switches, timers, and hard-wired control circuits.

You should be able to approach an unfamiliar system methodically, understand how it is intended to operate, identify the problem, and develop a safe and practical solution.

Qualifications

Candidates should have:

• Current electrician's license in good standing.
• Significant commercial and/or industrial electrical experience.
• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to safely and effectively use electrical testing equipment.
• Ability to read prints, schematics, specifications, and electrical diagrams.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe electrical work practices.
• Ability to plan work, solve problems, and execute work with limited supervision.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, project managers, engineers, inspectors, coworkers, and other trades.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with commercial and industrial electrical work.
  

A Master Electrician's license, multiple state licenses, supervisory experience, or extensive industrial troubleshooting experience is highly desirable.

You may have spent your career in commercial construction, industrial maintenance, service work, controls, large electrical projects, or a combination of these areas.
