Job Title: Nursing Shift SupervisorDepartment: Nursing LeadershipLocation: Newark Wayne HospitalHours Per Week: 36Schedule: Day/Evening/NightSUMMARY:The Nursing Shift Supervisor is a Nursing Leader who serves as a resource for problem solving, provides clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, facilitates patient flow during the off shifts (typically, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides on-site leadership and oversight during off-shifts in hospital or long-term care settings, managing patient care delivery, staffing, and emergent situations in the absence of onsite management.Supports staff through clinical problem-solving, mentoring, coaching, and reinforcing hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.Rounds on patients with concerns, admitted Emergency Department patients, and actively facilitates patient flow and decision-making in collaboration with the care team.Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care, while advocating for patient rights and shared decision-making.Ensures appropriate documentation and communication of shift occurrences, safety concerns, and staffing adjustments; serves as liaison across departments and with leadership.Maintains required education, participates in leadership development, ensures fiscal responsibility, and engages in community and professional healthcare activities.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Associate's Degree in Nursing required.Current New York State Registered Nurse LicenseEffective 1/1/2014, BLS required for all new candidates prior to hireBLS required for all internal team members by 12/31/2014PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree preferredEDUCATION:BS: NursingLICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.PAY RANGE:$85,000.00 - $120,000.00CITY:NewarkPOSTAL CODE:14513The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
