Associate Director - Clinical Command Center (Non-Clinical Administration)

DescriptionThe Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the daily administrative and business operations for Mount Sinai Heath System’s Clinical Command Center (CCC), which includes: capacity management, centralized clinical admitting and throughput initiatives for all inpatient bed assignments, inter and intra patient movement, transfer center procedures and outcomes and telemedicine. The Associate Director ensures that the department is managed according to institutional policies and any applicable regulatory requirements to maintain optimal results and high employee engagement.Responsibilities1. Oversees operations within all departments of the Clinical Command Center logistics. Uses data and fact-based problem-solving techniques to improve processes and outcomes. 2. Ensures that all operations within clinical admitting, system throughput, transfer center and telemedicine run efficiently for optimal patient service delivery. 3. Plans and coordinates departmental and system projects. Maintains standard operating procedures. Participates in the review and evaluation of department resources and operational workflows and recommends solutions to senior leadership, as necessary. 4. Assists department leaders in the implementation of operational best practices. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other departments throughout the health system to improve communication and throughput operations.5. Reviews projects in progress or at completion to ensure accuracy and conformance with proper processes. Helps to develop and maintain quality assurance for all areas of responsibility.6. May establish work schedules for specified CCC teams. Monitors and assists staff, while advising leadership of any operational issues or administrative needs.7. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.8. Collaborates with department senior leadership to develop short term and long-range plans for the logistical teams in clinical admitting, throughput, transfer center and telemedicine. 9. Reviews and administers policies regarding hiring, payroll, placement and orientation of all staff. Interviews, screens and recommends the hiring of new employees. Assists in departmental onboarding, mentoring, training and performance appraisals of staff.10. Recommends recognition and discipline of assigned staff.11. Provide leadership for staff members in the form of ongoing training, performance feedback, goal setting, and problem resolution; cultivate a culture of innovation and creativity in service of better patient care.12. Produces metrics and status reports for projects that are in progress or under consideration, in collaboration with departmental project and program coordinators, data management and reporting team.13. Performs regular reconciliations, analysis and justification of cost variances to senior leadership. 14. Monitors activities to meet standards and regulations of accrediting agencies such as The Joint Commission (TJC), Commission of Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and New York State and City Department of Health.15. Performs other related duties as required.QualificationsEducation Requirements Bachelor's Degree required in healthcare administration, business (healthcare), public health administration or related field in lieu of obtaining Master’s degree. Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, MPH or related) highly preferred. The salary range for the role is $79720 - $161199 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
