Location:Remote within Justice North service area preferred; travel to offices throughout northern Minnesotarequiredas needed.

Position Summary

Justice North is seeking its first dedicated Human Resources Generalist to support our growing organization of approximately 70 employees across eight offices serving 33 counties and more than52,000 square milesof northern Minnesota. Reporting to the Co-Executive Director, this position serves as a trusted resource for employees, supervisors, and leadership while building and managing the organization's humanresourcesfunction.

The Human Resources Generalist coordinates the employee lifecycle from recruitment through separation and oversees onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, payroll support, leave administration, performance management, training coordination, personnel records, policy administration, and HR compliance. The position works closely with the Director of Finance on payroll, benefits, and HR systems while partnering with supervisors and leadership to strengthen Justice North's culture and employee experience.

As Justice North's first dedicated HR professional, this position will help build systems, improve processes, and ensure employees and supervisors receive proactive, responsive HR support.

Essential Functions:

Recruitment & Hiring

• Coordinate recruitment from posting through onboarding.
• Draft and post job announcements.

• Coordinateapplicantcommunications, interviews, references, background checks, and offer letters.

• Partner with hiring managers onequitablehiring.
  

Employee Lifecycle

• Coordinate onboarding and orientation.

• Coordinate offboarding and exit interviews.

• Maintain personnel records.

• Coordinate equipment and accesswithother departments.

Benefits & Leave Administration

• Administer health,retirementand other benefits.

• Coordinate open enrollment.

• Administer PFML, FMLA, ADA, workers'compensationand other leave.

• Serve asprimaryemployee resource for benefits.

Payroll & HR Administration

• Support payroll processing.

• Maintain HRIS/payroll records.

• Coordinate personnel changes affecting payroll.

• Prepare HR reports and employment verifications.

Employee Relations & Supervisor Support

• Coach supervisors on performance,documentationand employee relations.

• Assistwith investigations and conflict resolution.

• Interpret personnel policies.

• Serve as a confidential HR resource.

Training & Organizational Development

• Coordinate orientations,trainingsand evaluations.

• Support employee engagement and recognition.

• Recommend HR process improvements.

Policy & Compliance

• Maintain handbook and HR policies.

• Monitor employment law changes.

• Support audits and grant personnel documentation.

• Maintain required employment records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

• 3+yearsHR experience.

• Knowledge of Minnesota employment law preferred.

• Experience with benefits, leave administration and payroll.

• Excellent judgment,communicationand confidentiality.

• Inspires and motivates staff to overcome obstacles.

• Exceptional collaborative management skills; has a proven record as a team builder and team leader.

• SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
