Location 3530 Carolina Beach Road,Wilmington, NC, 28412,United States Employee Type PT Non-Exempt Description This position is Part Time Tuesday and Thursday 8:45 am to 5 pm. Position Overview: The veterinary technician assistant is the veterinary technician’s primary support. They assist in restraining pets and test set up for the examination procedure. They aid the technicians in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of some of the routine work. They have a very significant role in freeing up the technicians to assist the veterinarian with medical procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities: Assist the Veterinarian or Credentialed Veterinary Technician during exams and treatments . Safely handle and restrain pets during exams; monitor the pet’s behavior and well-being, addressing any issues promptly and safely. Build strong relationships with pet parents to foster a supportive and trusting environment. Educate pet owners on general health care and preventative measures as advised by Veterinarian . Ensure complete and accurate medical records complying with state , federal , and industry regulations. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work environment such as exam room(s) and client waiting areas . Ensure all medical equipment and supplies are properly cleaned , sterilized , and organized . Perform other clerical and administrative duties as needed Qualifications: A passion for Paw Springs Veterinary Hospital’s mission and a genuine interest in providing a superior experience for patients and clients. Collaborative with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs ; perform physical activities such as standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting with or without reasonable accommodation. Education & Certifications: 1-2 years of animal care and handling experience; related veterinary care experience preferred Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures , and animal handling techniques . Physical Requirements: P aw Springs Veterinary Hospital Team Members routinely perform the following physical demands. All P aw Springs Veterinary Hospital Team Members are expected to perform these physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. Stand and/or walk for up to 6 hours without a break. Kneel, bend, squat, and twist their body . Repetitive hand and arm movement; reach, grab, pull, and push objects. Perform duties in an environment with loud sounds from animals and smells from pet waste and cleaning chemicals.
