Manager of Developer ExperienceThe Manager of Developer Experience is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and operation of the enterprise DevOps tooling and platform services that enable modern software delivery across the organization. This leader will oversee a team responsible for CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and integration with observability and security platforms. The role ensures standardized, secure, and reliable delivery processes while improving developer productivity and user experience. The Technology Manager will partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Operations teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise standards, drive tool rationalization, and support the organization's transition to a scalable DevSecOps and observability-enabled operating model.What you'll do:Lead the DevOps tools and platform portfolio, including CI/CD, developer tooling, testing platforms, and integrationsDefine and execute the roadmap for DevOps platform capabilities aligned to enterprise architecture and business prioritiesDrive standardization of pipelines, workflows, and tooling across engineering teamsEvaluate, select, and rationalize tools to reduce redundancy and optimize costCI/CD & Pipeline EngineeringDefine and deliver standardized CI/CD pipeline frameworks (pipeline-as-code)Develop reusable templates and patterns across multiple technology stacksEnsure integration of pipelines with:Security and quality gatesArtifact management platformsDeployment strategies (e.g., blue/green, canary)Improve reliability, scalability, and performance of delivery pipelinesObservability & DevSecOps IntegrationEnsure DevOps platforms are integrated with enterprise observability tooling, including logging, metrics, and tracing capabilitiesEnable end-to-end traceability from code deployment through runtime operationsPartner with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Security, and Architecture teams to implement telemetry and monitoring standardsSupport SLO-driven service monitoring and incident response processesPlatform Operations & ReliabilityDefine and manage SLAs for DevOps platform servicesEnsure platform availability, performance, and resiliencyLead incident response and continuous improvement efforts for platform reliabilityImplement monitoring and alerting for DevOps tools and servicesDeveloper Experience & EnablementDeliver a self-service DevOps platform that improves developer productivityReduce friction in build, test, and deployment workflowsEstablish developer experience metrics (e.g., onboarding time, pipeline adoption).Governance, Standards & ComplianceEnsure adherence to enterprise architecture, SDLC, security, and compliance requirementsPartner with Enterprise Architecture and Architecture Review Board (ARB) to enforce DevOps and observability standardsSupport compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirementsWhat we're looking for:Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related technical field is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.Experience:In addition to any experience required above, 8 or more years of technology experience; 4-6 years of direct supervision experience preferred.Other Preferred Requirements:Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)Experience managing enterprise developer tooling environmentsStrong understanding of DevOps, platform engineering, and software delivery practicesExperience leading SRE or reliability teams.Experience with AIOps and automation frameworks.Background in DevSecOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineeringFamiliarity with observability practices (logs, metrics, traces, SLOs)American Electric Power (On-Site)Compensation Grade: SP20-010Compensation Range: $136,539.00 - $177,503.00The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
