Harford Technical High School
Provide instructional and leadership services that prepare students with the related academic, critical thinking, computer technology, workplace readiness, and technical skills essential to pursuing career pathways in graphic communications and printing.
- This is an after-school position that will operate twice a week from approximately 3-5 p.m.
- This program is anticipated to run from September 2026 to June 2027
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on the assignment these duties may require in-person attendance and/or virtual attendance based on the specific operational or instructional requirements of the assignment.
Provide instruction and course/program management at the high school level in areas of graphic arts design and printing production as well as technology education.
Demonstrate knowledge and implement a "hands-on" approach to critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for current and future industry employment standards.
Provide instruction in teamwork, communications, problem solving, decision making, and computer technology which relates to work-place and higher education skills needed in business and industry.
Collaborate with staff and post-secondary institutions to develop and maintain career pathways which prepare students for apprenticeship, community college, or university degree programs.
Prepare instructional materials, maintain equipment, and manage materials of instruction which maximize the resources needed to deliver a diverse instructional program.
Understand and effectively relate to and teach students ages 13 to 18 as they become productive young adults and members of the community.
Lead student experiences in career field-related student organizations.
Contribute to the mission of the school by striving to attain school improvement plan and career completer goals.
Partner with employers and community groups to promote and advance technical skills.
Participate in recruitment and selection of students.
Create an instructional environment that is conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Communicate standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents. Meet with students and parents.
Maintain complete and accurate student academic, attendance, and disciplinary records. Monitor and assess students' academic progress.
Collaborate with school administrators, other teachers, paraeducators, parents, and community members in the education of students.
Attend staff meetings. Serve on various committees.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
SALARY
$42.13 per hour, non-benefitted
REQUIREMENTS
- Hold or be eligible for a Maryland Educator Certificate in appropriate requisite area.
Education, training, and experience as required by the Maryland Pathway to Initial Licensure for Professional and Technical Education.
Experience in one or more of the major areas of graphic arts design and printing production. Experience in printing production operations preferred.
Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro and PrintED industry recognized credentials preferred.
Knowledge and expertise with computer equipment operations and software applications. Knowledge and expertise with graphic communications and printing production technical equipment and industry-specific software. Knowledge of curriculum, effective instructional techniques, instructional materials and equipment.
Strong human relations skills and the ability to maintain relationships and open communications with business partners and other stakeholders to identify real-world applications of content.
Effective organization and communication skills.
Flexibility in program implementation strategies.
Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents and staff.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work requires the ability to bend, stand, and walk in the carpentry laboratory for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
