Associate Corporate Counsel, Worldwide Grocery Stores Legal
Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) Legal team is looking for a talented and motivated Associate Corporate Counsel to join our team. This role will support WWGS's diverse portfolio of businesses including Whole Foods Market and other grocery initiatives by providing practical, business-oriented legal counsel on a broad range of transactional and commercial matters. Amazon is passionate about solving a fundamental customer need, groceries, making shopping more convenient and providing customers with many choices, whether online or in-person.
Key Responsibilities
- Structure, draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, licensing agreements, professional services agreements, and procurement-related contracts.
- Provide day-to-day legal counsel to internal business clients across WWGS on transactional and commercial matters.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to support business initiatives and resolve legal issues efficiently.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize contracting processes, including developing template agreements and playbooks to reduce negotiation cycles.
- Support compliance and training initiatives related to contracting policies and approval frameworks.
- Manage external counsel relationships as needed to support transactional workstreams.
- Advise on legal and regulatory matters that arise in connection with commercial transactions, including vendor management considerations.
- Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations and appropriately escalates complex or novel issues.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
- 2+ years of post‑bar admission legal experience.
- Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Experience managing projects and working independently.
- Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication.
- Experience working effectively across cross‑functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization.
- Familiarity with procurement, vendor management, or supply‑chain contracting.
- Experience developing or improving contracting templates, workflows, or legal process efficiencies.
- A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with a focus on enabling the business while managing risk appropriately.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Salary and Location: USA, TX, Austin – 131,500.00 – 178,000.00 USD annually; USA, WA, Seattle – 131,500.00 – 178,000.00 USD annually.
