Heavy Equipment Service Technician

Position Overview We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Lafayette, Louisiana location. The role involves servicing and repairing Caterpillar heavy equipment and engines at our shop or onsite at customer locations. Compensation $60,000 - $120,000 yearly (including overtime). Range based on experience, skills, education, and training. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on all components of heavy equipment (electrical, engine, fuel systems, hydraulics, power generation, power trains). Remove and install heavy equipment engine components according to Caterpillar standards and technical service manuals. Understand Caterpillar exchange parts process and perform financial cost analysis of repairs. Create, track and formalize work order documents using the Caterpillar customer service report software. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Prior technical training of heavy machinery/equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude. Experience with engine & cooling systems, fuel systems, turbochargers, hydraulic systems, brake & transmissions, electronics & electrical, and undercarriages. Own required tool inventory (Tooling Program available). Strong customer service skills, professional demeanor, and safety‑first mentality. Job Facts Work shift: 12‑hour days, some weekend coverage; shift schedule to be discussed. Requires physical movement.
