Project Superintendent

Responsibilities Responsible for the installation, commissioning, diagnosis, repair, and start‑up of HVAC systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, air distribution, controls, and mechanical layouts. Responsible for planning, analyzing, and timely completion of assigned projects and activities. Uses a variety of hand tools, along with interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications, in order to mount, hang, fit, and install equipment and systems. Ensures compliance with internal contracting processes. Performs site surveys, replacements, modifications and start‑up as needed or requested by customers. Prepares for on‑site installation by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on‑site work, and coordinating with other trades as necessary. Maintains assigned stock of inventory, company equipment, and documents all related activities. Records parts, material, labor, and other cost data per assignment and returns unused resources. Provides training and follow‑up training at customer site. Provides sales leads to appropriate personnel. Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; and maintaining files. Turns in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner. Provides technical support to customers on assigned projects. Communicates with customers and their representatives, including building owners, subcontractors, and field support staff. Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns and implementing corrective action. Supports Project Managers by ensuring that assigned projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Supports Project Developer in the procurement of equipment. Acquires project materials from local suppliers. Assists Project Manager in planning assigned projects and prioritizing tasks. Attends planning meetings on a weekly basis. Supervises work of project installation technicians, subcontractors, and vendors. Must have the ability to lead and motivate others. Ensures quality installation of assigned projects. Assists in estimate development. Supports the Project Manager in change order management by recommending solutions, facilitating quotes, and closing orders. Willingness to learn new HVAC technologies and systems. Operates rental equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts. Represents the company as the direct customer contact and services products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and systems. Keeps current on Trane products concerning installation of direct digital control systems. Inspects vehicles, maintains records of service manuals, schedules repairs, maintains tools and equipment, enforces safety standards. Ensures security and accountability of company issued and procured assets. Regular travel requirements with occasional overnight stays. Displays team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weeks as required, including occasional overnight stays. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (required); typically 2‑5 years of experience in commercial HVAC installation. Technical school or formal training preferred. Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld computers. State Contractor Licenses preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer). Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and travel as required. Compensation Hourly base pay range: $44.69 – $55.61. Compensation varies by seniority, merit, location, experience, travel, and union designation.
