Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position at a hospital in Augusta, GA, requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience and active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care hospital setting
• Mixed patient population including neuro/stroke, respiratory, cardiac, and general medical cases
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on a 36-bed unit with an average daily census of 30
• PCU-level patient assignments requiring continuous telemetry monitoring
• Proficiency with titrating cardiac drips required
• EMR: Epic (preferred); Pyxis medication dispensing system used on unit
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license — GA or Compact license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience titrating cardiac drips required
• Proficiency with respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Copies of all required certifications needed for consideration
• Two supervisory references (manager-level or above) strongly preferred — charge nurse references not accepted

• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO maximum of 7 days per contract; all RTO must be finalized prior to starting the assignment — no RTO or schedule requests will be accepted after placement
• RTO blackout period: Spring Break (April 4–12)
• Holiday coverage is required: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2 (major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day)
• Candidates who have worked at this health system as permanent staff, per diem, or FCSS must have been away from all affiliated facilities for a full year before being considered as a traveler
• Travelers who previously canceled or received a do-not-return designation must complete one assignment outside this health system before reapplying
• Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
