Lead Software Engineer, Applied AI/ML

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of hands-on experience.
• We need practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We expect advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• We look for proven experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We require a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations.
• We need proficiency across the full Software Development Life Cycle.
• We require a strong data engineering background with Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, and Apache Iceberg.
• We look for proven applied AI/ML and GenAI delivery experience with measurable results, including RAG, extraction, summarization, ranking/classification, copilots, and evaluation.
• We need deep distributed systems and production engineering expertise across APIs, microservices, CI/CD, observability, containers/Kubernetes, security, and reliability.

• We design and deliver creative software solutions, including technical troubleshooting and solving complex problems beyond conventional approaches.
• We drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational results.
• We use SDLC tooling, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation.
• We own infrastructure capacity optimization solutions and build predictive and prescriptive models to identify capacity risk, performance bottlenecks, and right-sizing opportunities.
• We design, develop, and productionize GenAI and agentic AI solutions for automation, decision support, and operational workflows.
• We engineer production-grade backend services in Python and Java, including REST APIs, microservices, reusable libraries, and cloud-native data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• We build prompt engineering assets, routing strategies, and guardrails, and we implement automated and human-in-the-loop evaluation to improve quality.
• We identify and automate recurring remediation opportunities to improve the operational stability of software applications and systems.
• We apply MLOps best practices across experimentation, versioning, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management, while defining success metrics and governance with stakeholders.
• We own and govern the end-to-end AI/ML optimization strategy in partnership with SRE, platform, and business teams to deliver scalable automation, risk reduction, and measurable enterprise outcomes.
• We lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural design, technical credentials, and fit for our existing systems and information architecture.
