Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to apply your welding and metal fabrication skills in a dynamic production environment that builds a wide range of custom metal products. You will work on agricultural equipment such as tillage tools, storage tanks, fertilizer spreaders, HVAC equipment for industrial plants, and other custom projects. The work changes regularly, giving you exposure to different products and fabrication challenges from week to week.
Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and wirefeed welding on agricultural and industrial equipment, including tillage equipment, storage tanks, fertilizer spreaders, HVAC equipment for plants, and other custom metal products.
• Set up and adjust welding machines to ensure proper weld quality and adherence to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints and layouts, or train on blueprint reading, to accurately lay out and assemble products.
• Fabricate components by cleaning up welds with grinders and using other metalworking tools as needed.
• Operate overhead cranes as needed to safely move products and materials within the shop.
• Work closely with other welders, leads, and team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
• Communicate with other departments to maintain smooth and efficient product flow throughout the production process.
• Assist in training new hires once you are comfortable with the processes and products.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area to support a safe and efficient shop environment.

Essential Skills

• Prior welding experience or formal welding education.
• Proficiency with MIG welding and wirefeed welding processes.
• Ability to set up and adjust welding machines for different materials and projects.
• Experience working in a production or fabrication environment.
• Basic fabrication skills, including cleaning up welds with a grinder and using common metalworking tools.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Comfort using hand tools and grinders for metal fabrication tasks.
• Willingness to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the ability to support a workload of approximately 50 hours per week when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Blueprint reading and layout experience is a strong plus and preferred, but not mandatory.
• Experience with press brake operations in a metal fabrication setting.
• Experience or familiarity with agricultural equipment or farming environments.
• Exposure to shop class or similar hands-on metalworking education.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication and structural welding.
• Familiarity with flux core welding processes.
• Experience using Miller, Lincoln, ESAB, Fronius, or similar welding equipment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Interest in mentoring and helping train new team members once you are established in the role.

Work Environment

The facility is typically comfortable in terms of temperature, even during hot weeks, making it easier to stay productive throughout the year. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional half-day Fridays and a current workload that often reaches around 50 hours per week. The environment includes the use of MIG and wirefeed welding equipment, overhead cranes, grinders, hand tools, and other fabrication tools commonly found in a production welding shop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
