divh2Job Title/h2pCable Services Company, Inc. performs construction and cable installation projects within a five to six state area in the Northeast region of the US./ppProject hours vary by project and can be influenced by weather. Frequent overnight travel is required along with overtime in order to meet project related deadlines. Cable Services Company, Inc. maintains a drug-free workplace and performs pre-employment substance abuse testing and background checks./ppA Fiber Splicer will perform cable splicing in the air, underground, indoors and outdoors. In addition this position requires frequent travel in which the employee would be away from home. This position requires overnight work during consumer non-peak usage hours (Midnight to 7am) along with shared weekend on-call status for emergency restoration./ppEssential Functions and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:/pulliInstall, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic system/liliPrep and hang fiber optic enclosures, nodes and related equipment/liliRoute, splice and/or terminate fiber in equipment racks at central offices, hub sites or inside of buildings/liliWork with OSP Project Managers to perform fusion splicing as directed/liliRead design maps, fiber schematics and basic electronic designs/liliOperate aerial lift and other related equipment to perform job functions/liliRequired to be on-call for emergency restoration/liliFrequently communicate with management on workload status/liliMay occasionally perform routine construction work such as pulling rope/cables, climbing ladders, using hand tools, digging with a shovel, etc./liliAccurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment according to established company standards and procedures (ie timesheet, truck report, expense report)/liliResponsible for assigned company vehicle, tools, materials and equipment/liliPerform work in a safe manner and comply with all established company safety policies and procedures/liliPerform other duties and tasks as assigned in order to help team complete a project/li/ulpRequired Education and Experience:/pulliMinimum of 2 years experience splicing all types of fiber optic cables/liliHigh school diploma or GED/liliExperience working in a bucket truck at heights in excess of 30-40 ft./liliProficiency using related splicing equipment including fusion splicers, OTDR, optical power meters, fiber identifiers and all related splicing tools/liliAbility to distinguish between colors/liliExperience reading design maps, fiber schematics and basic electronic designs/liliMust possess exceptional organizational skills and be detailed oriented/liliMust be able to occasionally move materials/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds/liliAbility to maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision/li/ulpPreferred Education and Experience:/pulli5+ years of experience splicing all types of fiber optic cables/liliValid drivers license with a clean driving record/liliAbility to pass a criminal background screen and drug test/li/ulpWork Environment:/pulliWhile performing this job, the employee may be occasionally required to stand, walk handle or operate object, tools or controls/liliOften work will be performed near busy highways and streets/liliWork may be performed in a confined splice trailer or in an outdoor environment/li/ulpCable Services Company, Inc. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer minorities / females / veterans / individuals with disabilities / sexual orientation / gender identity./ppRequirements:/ppPlease note that only applications from individuals residing in the United States will be considered for this position.
