Senior General ledger Accountant

Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process for the general ledger across multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate close Assist in the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual forecast Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, intercompany transactions, and other standard/non-standard entries Perform balance sheet account reconciliations across all entities, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner Review and analyze trial balances, identifying and correcting misclassifications or unusual variances Partner with the Project Accounting team to ensure job cost activity is properly reflected in the general ledger and reconciled to job cost reports and WIP schedules Maintain and enforce the chart of accounts, ensuring consistency and proper mapping across entities Support intercompany transactions and eliminations Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules Support the Financial Controller with cash flow analysis, budget-to-actual variance reporting, and ad hoc financial analysis Prepare audit schedules and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and tax preparers Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls, close efficiency, and reporting accuracy Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff and Project Accountants on GL-related matters Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies across all entities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive general ledger/accounting experience, including multi-entity environments Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines Ability to work in-person, full-time, at the Rockville, MD office #J-18808-Ljbffr
