Cashier Shift Lead

Position Summary:

The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of their Department during their assigned shift. This role serves as one of the leads for the department, ensuring team members are performing efficiently, product quality standards are maintained, and all inventory is adequately stocked and merchandised on the retail floor. The Shift Lead works closely with team members and store leadership to communicate priorities, address operational needs, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise Department team members during assigned shifts.
• Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, direction, and support to ensure operational standards are met, while supporting employee development
• Prepare food items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines 
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout all areas of the store, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards 
• Regularly assess inventory levels on the retail floor and communicate replenishment needs and production priorities to the team
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to ensure product availability 
• Conduct department walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards are consistently met
• Address operational issues in real time and escalate concerns as needed
• Foster a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of food service operations, including food safety and sanitation standards 
• Understanding of scheduling practices, inventory control, and basic workflows 
• Familiarity with employee onboarding, training processes
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and compliance requirements
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written 
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks 
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address operational challenges in real time 
• Attention to detail, particularly in food preparation, cleanliness, and administrative tasks
• Manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs 
• Work collaboratively with shift Store Station Leads and team members at all levels 
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations 
• Ability to train, coach, and provide constructive feedback to employees 
• Follow and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards 
• Work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements:

• Repetitive motions including cutting, chopping, and reaching
• Exposure to cold food storage and hot equipment
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time 
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently 
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions as needed 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment 

Qualifications: 

• Previous experience in retail, food service, or hospitality leadership role preferred 
• Strong organizational and time management skills 
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards 
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills 
• Ability to handle administrative responsibilities alongside operational duties
