HIM Coding Specialist I - Full-time

Primary coding responsibilities are outpatient diagnostics and emergency department accounts. Performs detailed review of medical records, identifies pertinent diagnoses and procedures, assigns proper codes and abstracts/verifies patient information into computer database.

Education and credentials:

Associate degree in Health Information Technology and certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Formal training in ICD-10 coding.

Work experience:

No experience required. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.

Preferred qualifications:

RHIT with CCS credential.

One year of previous experience.
