Special Education Assessment Coordinator K-12 JobID: 1225 Position Type: Special Education Date Posted: 4/14/2026 Location: District-Wide Job Summary The Special Education Assessment Coordinator must be highly organized, knowledgeable of all due process timelines and regulations, efficient at completing paperwork, and effective in communication with a variety of people. This person will be responsible for planning, organizing, and writing all K-12 special education evaluations and reevaluations and will assist with documentation of interventions. Minnesota Special Education licensure is required. This position would be classified as a teacher on special assignment. The Special Education Evaluation Coordinator will report to the Director of Student Services and Special Education Coordinator. Salary Range $44,500.00-$56,000.00 Essential Functions Develop student evaluation plans and assess students for Special Education services in collaboration with related service providers, families, and community resources. Conduct and lead special education evaluations and reevaluations including evaluation planning and summary reports. Plan the student re-evaluation list. Administer student assessments to identify strengths and needs in the areas of academic skills, perception, memory, language, cognition, social, emotional and behavioral development, transition skills, and additional areas identified by the IEP Team. Collect background information from staff regarding data for evaluations. Summarize parent reporting. Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques. Serve as a ready resource to students and parents to provide support that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and behavioral management. Partner/collaborate with Student Success Team, child study team, MTSS team and 504 team; position does not implement interventions directly. Review medical findings. Co-plan the IEP meeting schedule to align with evaluations. Adhere to due process timelines and complete special education paperwork in compliance with MDE standards. Communicate with special education teachers and general education teachers regarding newly qualified students and evaluation status of students. Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Provide professional expertise and assistance to individuals, other district staff and the community concerning areas of instructional expertise/knowledge. Attend training sessions, conferences, seminars, district and departmental meetings. Keep abreast of changing developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies. Keep MARSS Data up to date for the district. Add new students to SpedForms & share with appropriate staff. This position may require other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Valid MN Special Education Teaching License Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Preferences International Baccalaureate experience preferred. Mandarin Chinese or Spanish language proficiency is preferred, but not a must.
