ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for monitoring and treatment of patients. Conduct chart audits and administer medication per treatment protocol. Assist with patient intake, including insurance authorization, medical assessment, and notification of providers. Assist in the behavioral management of patients, which included verbal redirection and active listening. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Implement crisis intervention measures when indicated to escalate and control aggressive patients. Prepare equipment and aid physicians during the treatment and examinations of patients. Function as a role model to reinforce the development of adaptive behaviors. Direct therapeutic milieu and provide supportive individual, group, and family therapy. Utilize psychotherapeutic intervention to assist patients in regaining or improving their nervous coping abilities and prevent further disability. Utilize activities of daily living in a goal-oriented way to foster adequate self-care and physical and mental well-being. Provide appropriate level of patient education to improve patients' understanding regarding illness, treatments, patient rights and responsibilities, and acquisition of adaptive coping behaviors. Maximize the security and safety of units. Provide special attention/monitoring of those patients at risk for suicidal attempts or elopements. Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess the patient's condition. May rotate among various clinical services of the institution.
