Pediatric Hospitalist Physician

We are seeking a Board Certified Pediatrician for an ongoing Pediatric Hospitalist locum opportunity in Potsdam, New York, beginning January 2027. This assignment offers 5 7 24-hour call shifts per month with a low pediatric inpatient census and coverage of the newborn nursery, ER pediatric consults, and high-risk deliveries.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: January 4, 2027
• 5 7 shifts per month

Schedule

• 24-hour call shifts
• 7:00 AM 7:00 AM
• Weekday and weekend coverage required
• Multiple consecutive 24-hour shifts may be available
• Provider may remain out of the hospital when there are no acute issues
• Must remain within a 20-minute response time while on call

Practice Setting

• Acute Care Hospital
• Pediatric Hospitalist
• Newborn Nursery
• Pediatric inpatient unit
• ER pediatric consults
• High-risk deliveries
• Level I Nursery with high-risk deliveries
• Epic EMR

Patient Volume

• Approximately 4 10 newborns
• Approximately 0 3 pediatric inpatients

Responsibilities

• Provide Pediatric Hospitalist call coverage
• Cover the Newborn Nursery
• Attend high-risk deliveries
• Provide pediatric consultations in the Emergency Department
• Manage pediatric inpatients
• Resuscitate and stabilize critically ill newborns when necessary
• Stabilize newborns pending transport to a higher-level NICU

Support Staff

• Pediatric physician coverage
• OB/GYN physician and/or midwife
• CNA/CMA support
• 24/7 anesthesia coverage with CRNA or physician

Requirements

• Board Certified in Pediatrics required
• Board Eligible candidates will not be accepted
• Active New York medical license required
• Epic experience required
• NRP required
• PALS required
• BLS required
• AHA or RQI certifications required
• Residents and fellows will not be considered

Credentialing

• Current work history required
• No unexplained employment gaps of 30+ days
• Physician statement required for any malpractice history, including dismissed cases
