About the Position(s) Athletic Trainer I – This position will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in providing comprehensive medical care to intercollegiate student-athletes. Support the daily operations of the athletic training facility, including providing medical coverage for intercollegiate practices and competitions. Perform injury evaluations, administer treatments, implement proactive injury prevention strategies, and oversee rehabilitation programs. Maintain a professional work environment and foster positive working relationships with student-athletes, staff, and the campus community. Be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and travel with teams as needed. Maintain all required athletic training certifications. Athletic Trainer II – Working independently and in collaboration with the Head Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Trainer assists in the development, administration, and coordination of medical care for intercollegiate student-athletes. The position supports the daily operation of the athletic training facility and equipment, including providing medical coverage for intercollegiate practices and competitions. Responsibilities include performing injury evaluations, providing treatment for athletic injuries, implementing proactive injury prevention strategies, and overseeing rehabilitation and conditioning programs. The incumbent assists the Head Athletic Trainer with the development and management of sport coverage schedules and staff assignments, shares responsibility for Sports Medicine program oversight, and contributes to the development, implementation, and oversight of departmental policies and procedures. The position maintains a professional and collaborative work environment with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and the campus community, and assumes responsibility for the organization and operation of the Sports Medicine program in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer. The position also requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, travel with athletic teams as needed, and maintain all required athletic training certifications. Athletic Trainer I Assist with the daily operation of the athletic training facility and equipment, including providing medical coverage for intercollegiate athletic practices and competitions. Perform injury evaluations under established protocols and in consultation with the Head Athletic Trainer, as appropriate. Provide prescribed or established treatment for athletic injuries. Implement proactive injury prevention strategies and assist in the rehabilitation and conditioning of athletes in collaboration with the Head Athletic Trainer. Communicate with coaches regarding the injury status, participation restrictions, and return-to-play progress of student-athletes consistent with established medical guidance. Serve as first responder for assigned sport supervision and home events. Administrative duties & other duties as assigned: Assist in documenting injuries, completing injury reports and maintaining medical records/files. Assist with the collection, organization, and maintenance of confidential medical and insurance records. Athletic Trainer II Support the daily operation of the athletic training facility and equipment, including providing medical coverage for intercollegiate athletic practices and competitions. Independently perform injury evaluations, provide treatment for athletic injuries, implement proactive injury prevention strategies, and oversee rehabilitation and conditioning programs in consultation with the Head Athletic Trainer, as appropriate. Communicate with coaches regarding the injury status, participation restrictions, and return-to-play progress of student-athletes, as appropriate. Serve as first responder for assigned sport supervision and home events. Administrative Duties: Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the development, administration, and coordination of medical care of intercollegiate athletes including the scheduling and assigning of student athletes for outside referrals, treatment, and rehabilitation/therapy. Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with sport assignment and coverage schedules. Assist with providing lead work direction of student trainers and interns. Document injuries, complete injury reports and maintain medical records/files. Assist with the collection, organization, and maintenance of confidential medical and insurance records and insurance billing. Assist in the coordination of other athletic trainers and provide direction and training to Athletic Trainer I’s, interns and student trainers. Assist in the coordination of pre-participation physicals and drug prevention and drug testing requirements. Assist in developing and monitoring the athletic training program budget. Coordinate the organization and day-to-day operation of the Sports Medicine program in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer. Experience:Equivalent to two years of experience as a certified Athletic Trainer in a high school or college environment. Education: Equivalent to bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related field of study or combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. This position has been identified to have significant responsibility for student and campus activities and will be required to function as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. In accordance with CSU Executive Order 1107, Implementation of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the incumbent will be responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act crimes to the University Police Department and/or the University Clery Director. AT I and AT II Requirements: License and Certifications:Possess and maintain Board of Certification (BOC) certification for Athletic Trainer. Some positions may require a valid California driver’s license. Required Qualifications: Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required. Must successfully complete all required Campus Security Authority (CSA) training and maintain compliance with all required annual Clery Act training and reporting requirements.
