Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch‑made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices. We are a dynamic and fast‑growing agency at the forefront of the “Food is Medicine” field, providing over 1 million medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high‑quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on‑site food‑service workforce development program. Over the past 36 years, the agency has provided 15+ million free, scratch‑made meals. Community Servings seeks a dynamic and mission‑driven Major Gifts Officer to join our collaborative development team during an exciting period of growth. Reporting to the Director of Major and Planned Giving, the Major Gifts Officer will play a critical role in advancing Community Servings’ mission by securing philanthropic support from a portfolio of individuals. This frontline fundraising position will manage an active portfolio of 100–125 major gift prospects and lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward five‑ and six‑figure gifts that fuel annual fundraising and strategic initiatives. The Major Gifts Officer will develop and execute personalized engagement strategies, partner with senior staff and volunteers on solicitations, and represent Community Servings at donor events and external functions. The ideal candidate is a confident and goal‑oriented fundraiser with a proven track record of closing significant gifts, exceptional relationship‑building skills, and a passion for Community Servings’ mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage an active portfolio of 100–125 major gift prospects, primarily comprised of individuals. Identify, qualify, and cultivate new major gift prospects, developing comprehensive strategies for solicitation and long‑term engagement. Directly solicit five‑ and six‑figure gifts and partner with senior staff and volunteers on solicitations by providing prospect briefings, strategic guidance, and donor communications. Develop and execute strategic donor engagement opportunities, including small gatherings for select prospects and larger stewardship events. Deliver a high‑quality donor experience through personalized correspondence, compelling proposals, and timely acknowledgements. Track and report on portfolio activity using Salesforce prospect management, ensure accurate documentation of interactions, progress toward goals, and donor pipeline development. Represent Community Servings at external functions and events, serving as an ambassador for the mission. Collaborate with the Development Team to align major gift strategies with organizational priorities and fundraising goals. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to foster authentic connections between donors and Community Servings. Confidence in soliciting major gifts and inspiring individuals to invest in the mission. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage donors, board members, volunteers, and colleagues professionally. Organizational and time‑management skills to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities. High degree of integrity, initiative, and resourcefulness, with a collaborative approach to working across teams. Proficiency with donor management systems and office technology; experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Office preferred. Passion for Community Servings’ mission and commitment to advancing its values. Ability to travel regularly within New England, with occasional trips beyond the region. Night and weekend availability as needed. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years of experience managing donor relationships, with a proven track record of closing five‑and‑six‑figure gifts. Work Environment Ideally the position will primarily be based out of Community Servings Jamaica Plain office; thus, the ideal candidate will live within an easily commutable distance of Boston. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Hybrid schedule: 3 in‑office days per week. Note we have offices in JP and Mansfield. Physical Demands The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
