OBGYN Clerkship Director (Med Clinical Prof-Med Series)

Located on the campus of The City College of New York (CCNY), CUNY SOM offers an accelerated curriculum that enables students to earn a BS and MD in seven years, and a two‑year PA program. Its mission is to provide medical and PA education to students from historically underrepresented backgrounds, with a commitment to primary care in underserved communities, and to conduct innovative research in community health, health professions education, and biomedical science. As the OBGYN Clerkship Director, you will oversee clerkship implementation by serving as a liaison among students, faculty and school administration, collaborating with site directors and affiliate faculty to monitor teaching and assessment across all clinical sites. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Clinical Professor – Medical Series, a full‑time, non‑tenure track position in the Department of Clinical Medicine reporting to the Department Chair. Duties Develop, implement, and evaluate a standardized didactic curriculum in Obstetrics and Gynecology for third‑year medical students across all clinical sites. Lead interactive, student‑centered educational sessions (typically one afternoon per week). Direct the simulation‑based end‑of‑clerkship OSCE at the NYSIM Center at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. Ensure alignment of teaching with national curricular guidelines, CUNY SOM Educational Program Objectives (EPOs), Foundational Competencies (FCs), and clerkship‑level learning objectives. Chair Clerkship Grading Committee meetings, oversee grading processes, and provide feedback to clinical site directors on evaluation practices. Conduct periodic clinical site visits to ensure consistency in student experiences and assessment practices. Oversee advanced clinical rotations, including fourth‑year OBGYN electives and sub‑internships. Participate in institutional committees (e.g., Curriculum Committee, Admissions Committee). Mentor students and serve as a faculty advisor for student organizations, including the OBGYN Special Interest Group (SIG). Contribute to broader medical education efforts, including teaching in courses such as Practice of Medicine (POM), Organ Systems, Anatomy, Clinical Skills Assessment, and Introduction to Internship (ITI). This full‑time position includes dedicated time for clinical practice, with flexible scheduling to accommodate clinical responsibilities. The institution provides support for professional development, including participation in regional and national medical education conferences. Compensation Salary Range: $175,000 – $227,755. Salary commensurate with education and experience. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases; eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the PSC‑CUNY collective bargaining agreement. Qualifications Must hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree; be board‑certified; and hold a current New York State physician’s license. Preferred Qualifications At least five (5) years of experience as a medical school course director, clerkship site director, residency director, or undergraduate medical educator, with the following characteristics: Understanding of inclusive pedagogy as it relates to medical education. Experience collaborating with professionals in a complex organization. Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and experience with curriculum development. Ability to combine administrative, education and teaching responsibilities. Outstanding communication and leadership skills to work collaboratively with faculty from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and academic backgrounds to develop and implement a new integrated curriculum. Demonstrated record of academic and scholarly activity. Experience in supporting student academic success, particularly for members of underrepresented groups. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, multicultural and structural competence in an educational and work environment.
